Dublin, Texas

An Ultra High Definition 4K Driving Tour of Dublin, Texas.

Join me on a driving tour of Dublin, Texas! Dublin is known as being the Irish Capital of Texas.

Dublin, Texas is a small town located in Erath County. Dublin is located in Central Texas. It is 100 miles from Dallas, 80 miles from Waco, and 240 miles from Houston. Fewer than 4,000 people live in Dublin, Texas.

Like many small towns in Texas, it grew up around a rail road station and has struggled in recent years as jobs have gone away.

During this drive we will see the center of town, as well as drive around the school and the fair grounds. It’s an overcast day and there aren’t very many people out and about.

Dublin, Texas is famous for formerly being the home of a bottling plant for Dr. Pepper, a popular American soft drink similar to Coca Cola.

In this tour we will drive past the historic old town area of Dublin, Texas. We will drive past the bottling plant museum and the Dublin Dr. Pepper soda fountain. It is now called the Dublin Bottling Company. There was a documentary made about the Dublin Bottling Company called, “Bottled Up: The Battle Over Dublin Dr. Pepper.”

Dublin, Texas is also the childhood home of golfer Ben Hogan. There is a museum for Ben Hogan that we will drive past on the tour.

We will also see a large soda bottle on the side of the road in honor of the local Dublin Bottling Company.

This is a relaxing driving video in a historic old small town in rural Texas. During this chill drive we will pass a lot of rural highway and houses, as well as some agricultural industry.

The end of the video features a very short train passing on the train tracks, and honking its horn.

The W.P. Koster Museum Annex has information on the history of the Dublin Bottling Works and Dr. Pepper memorabilia.

Old Doc’s Soda Shop

105 E Elm St, Dublin, TX 76446

This is effectively the gift shop for the tour, but even if you can’t take a tour, you definitely need to stop here if you are in Dublin! They sell all of the different flavors of soda and you can get a case to take them home with you. They also sell merchandise and souvenirs.

The soda shop offers ice cream floats, sandwiches and other goodies. They can make the ice cream floats out of any of the flavors of soda that they sell. There are a lot of flavors! The floats are very good. My favorite flavors of the sodas were cherry limeade and the lemonade flavors.

Incidentally, I saw some limited flavors of Dublin sodas sold at the Terlingua Trading Company gift shop in Terlingua, Texas next to the Starlight Theater. I also saw it at a great restaurant in Fort Davis, Texas called the Fort Davis Drug Store.
