Fresno is located near Houston, Pearland, and Missouri City, Texas. As Houston has grown, housing developers have built up the area.

History of Fresno, Texas

Fresno was first established in 1884, around the same time that many other towns in Texas got their start. It is said that the town is named after Fresno, California.

The population of Fresno stayed low for many years, remaining a rural area. The post office was established in 1910, and a general store was also built, but the community remained small.

In the 1970’s and 1980’s more residential housing was built in Fresno, and the area began to be developed. The 1990’s and early 2000’s saw explosive growth in the size of the community.
