Resaca de la Palma State Park

Resaca de la Palma State park is a day use park known for birdwatching. This is a car free park. You can park your car in the parking area near the visitor center, and then explore the park on foot, by bike, or by tram.

Cost

The entry fee for Resaca de la Palma State Park is $4 per person over the age of 13. There is free admission for people ages 12 and under. 

Reservations

Reservations can be made in advance online. This is a popular park that often reaches capacity, even for day use. If you do not have a reservation you may be turned away at the gate.

This is a day use facility only. There is no camping in the park.

Hiking Trails

There are eight miles of trails in the park. The trails are mostly easy hikes and provide nature viewing opportunities. 

What is there to do at Resaca de la Palma State Park?

The main thing to do at this park is birdwatching. There are many opportunities for seeing different types of birds. 

You can walk or hike on the nature trails. 

You can bring your own bike for the trails, or rent one from the park. 

Take a tram tour. The tram goes down a trail in the park. It is an almost three mile loop that provides opportunities for nature viewing. 

Visit the park store. They have bird guide books, souvenirs, and snacks.

Dogs at Resaca de la Palma State Park

Resaca de la Palma State Park allows dogs into the park. Dogs must be on a leash in public areas of the park including on hiking trails. Owners must clean up after their dogs.

Do not let your dogs disturb the wildlife.

Dogs are not allowed inside any of the buildings, including the park store and bathrooms.

South Padre Island, Texas

South Padre is 35 miles from the park. You can go to the beach.
