Jacinto City, Texas was first started as a planned subdivision in 1941 and later officially incorporated as a city in 1947. Jacinto City became a popular place for workers in the nearby shipyards to live. It currently has a population of about 10,500 people.

Jacinto City is located in Harris County, Texas and is part of the greater Houston metroplex. While many surrounding communities were eventually annexed into the City of Houston, Jacinto City did not and remains its own separate entity.

Jacinto City is named after the nearby San Jacinto battlefield.

The Battle of San Jacinto was the final battle of the Texas Revolution. On April 21, 1836 Texan troops led by General Sam Houston defeated the Mexican Army, led by General Santa Anna in a quick and decisive battle that lasted 18 minutes. Santa Anna was then taken prisoner and this led the way for Texas to become recognized as an independent nation.

What is Jacinto City, Texas known for?

Unfortunately in 1998 Jacinto City became known for the high profile murder of Louis “Buddy” Musso by Sue Basso. Basso was one of multiple co-defendants who held Musso against his will in her home. They tortured and killed the victim for his life insurance money. Basso later died by lethal injection after being found guilty of the crime.
