TC Jester Boulevard is a street in Houston, Texas. It runs from Washington Avenue just south of I-10 north and effectively ends at Victory Road in Acres Homes. TC Jester cuts through the Lazybrook/Timbergrove and Shady Acres area inside the loop and outside of 6-10 runs along the edge of Oak Forrest. 

Who was T.C. Jester?

Reverend Thomas C Jester was a Baptist Minister and member of the Houston City Planning Commission who died in 1950 at which point the road was renamed in his honor. When Reverend TC Jester was alive the road was named White Oak Drive. 

In 1911 TC Jester moved to Fort Worth, Texas to attend seminary school. He later became the pastor of Baptist Temple in the Houston Heights. He played a leading role in the temperance movement in Houston.

Is the Jester Dormitory at UT named for TC Jester?

TC Jester is often confused with Beauford Halbert Jester. Beauford Jester was the governor of Texas from 1947 -1949 when he died in office. Beaufort Jester was on the Board of Regents for the University of Texas from 1933 – 1935. A very large dormitory at the University of Texas is named after Beauford Jester, as is the Beauford H. Jester Complex of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (formerly known as the Jester State Prison Farm).  As such, TC Jester the road is named after a different person with the last name Jester than the Jester dorm at UT. 

TC Jester Park

TC Jester Park is named for the adjacent TC Jester Blvd. TC Jester Park. The park has a disc golf course with 21 holes that is very popular. The park has long bike trails with lots of amenities for bikes such as bike pumping stations. There is a dog park that is divided into two sections, one for dogs over twenty pounds and one for dogs under twenty pounds. The park also has a lot of free parking spots. TC Jester Park also has a swimming pool and playground.

TC Jester Park has a memorial for Jennifer Eartman and Elizabeth Peña. In 1993 the teenagers were walking home through the park when they encountered gang members who murdered them as part of a gang initiation. 

TC Jester Apartments

There are many apartment complexes along TC Jester. It is a desirable neighborhood for people to live in because it has close access to the park which has lots of running trails and places to walk dogs. It also has easy access to the heights which has a lot of restaurants and night life, and a relatively short commute into Downton Houston. Some of the apartments near TC Jester include Timbergrove Heights Apartments, The Grove at White Oak, City Park in the Heights, and The Crossing at White Oak.
