Established in 1954, Atlanta State Park is located 13 miles from Atlanta, Texas and 30 miles southwest of Texarkana, Texas. The park is 1,475 acres and is near the Wright Patman Lake. I went camping at Atlanta State Park after a trip to visit Jefferson, Texas and had a great time.

Cost:
The entry fee for Atlanta State park is $3 per day for people over the age of 13. There is free admission for people age 12 and under.
There are additional fees for camping or renting kayaks.
With a Texas State Park Pass the entry fee for day use is free for the pass holder and anyone in their vehicle. The Texas State Park Pass is $70 per year. I have really gotten a lot of use out of my park pass and am happy that I got it.
Reservations:
Reservations are available for both day use and camping.
Reservation windows open up for campsites up to one year in advance. Campsites should be reserved as soon as you know your plans, because locations will book up early especially for weekends and holidays.

Camping:
There are different levels of campsites available at Atlanta State Park. The campsites cost between $12 – $14 per night depending on the exact site.
Campsites offer amenities such as later posts, picnic tables, grills, and fire rings. There are also water hookups and electric hookups.

There are restrooms throughout the park. Each campsite loop has its own restrooms and showers.
Hiking Trails:
There are five trails at the park. None of them are very long. Pets are allowed on the trails if they are on a leash. One of the trails ends by the lake.
What is there to do at Atlanta State Park?
Swimming is available in certain sections of the lake. The Wright Patman Lake was formed by dam on the Sulphur River. The lake also has fishing and is known for catfish.
The park offers canoe and kayak rentals to take out on the lake.
There are picnic areas as well as places to play volleyball, horseshoes and basketball.
