Grapeland, Texas

Grapeland, Texas is a community of 1,500 people in the Piney Woods in East Texas. When the railroad came through the area in the 1870’s pioneers began settling the community and the town was named for the grapes that grow in the area.

Grapeland, Texas is known for being in the Pinewoods and is close to good camping and the Davy Crockett National Forrest. It is the town closest to Mission Tejas Texas State Park.

Mission Tejas Texas State Park

Mission Tejas State Park has camping, hiking trails, and historic buildings. The park has an excellent visitor center with information about the history of the area. The park headquarters has an interesting water collection system as well.

Salmon Lake Park

247 Salmon Lake Rd, Grapeland, TX 75844

Salmon Lake Park is a tourist attraction in Grapeland. It is a private campground that also functions as an event venue.

Salmon Lake Park hosts an annual Blue Grass Festival and other live music events. The park has lots of old buildings on the premises and old cars.

I ate the fried chicken here and I enjoyed it a lot. They also have ice cream, milkshakes and fountain drinks.
