Grapeland, Texas is a community of 1,500 people in the Piney Woods in East Texas. When the railroad came through the area in the 1870’s pioneers began settling the community and the town was named for the grapes that grow in the area.
Grapeland, Texas is known for being in the Pinewoods and is close to good camping and the Davy Crockett National Forrest. It is the town closest to Mission Tejas Texas State Park.

Salmon Lake Park is a tourist attraction in Grapeland. It is a private campground that also functions as an event venue.

Salmon Lake Park hosts an annual Blue Grass Festival and other live music events. The park has lots of old buildings on the premises and old cars.
